The donkey has been the symbol of Ferrel since ancient times, and today some people still use the donkey as transport to go to the garden. In the past, the donkey was the transport used to sell fish.
Legend has it that some pirates docked on land and a pirate said: -Here we go. And so Ferrel was born.
During the summer festivals, many people come to Ferrel. There is also the festival of Bom Jesus do Carvalhal, where a large part of the population goes on a pilgrimage and camps for several days, with nighttime shows around the main church of Carvalhal, in September, and there is also the festival of Santa Quitéria, which is organized by young single people in the locality. In November we have the Feast of Santo Estêvão in Baleal.
